Who can apply ?

To apply for a Student Visa you need:

  • An acceptance letter from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI): Canadian universities, community colleges, CEGEP’s, publicly funded trade and technical schools and private institutions authorized to award degrees, diplomas and certificates

  • A valid passport or travel document

  • Proof that you have enough money to pay for at least 1 year of: 

    • Tuition fees

    • Living expenses for yourself and accompanying family members

    • AND return transportation for yourself and accompanying family members 

  • Proof of no criminal record and not being a risk to the security of Canada 

  • Proof of good health

  • Intend to leave Canada at the end of your studies

TIPS!

  • Full-time international students with a valid study permit are eligible to work on campus of their place of study without obtaining a work permit

  • Full-time international students with a valid study permit are eligible to work off campus part time (20 hours per week) during the semester or full time in scheduled breaks without obtaining a work permit

  • Inform Immigration, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (IRCC) in case of change of post-secondary institutions while in Canada

  • Study permit will become invalid 90 days after completion/termination of  study. You may be eligible to apply for an extension on visitor visa or apply for Post Graduate Work Permit

  • Visitors may apply for a study permit while in Canada

  • Applications are submitted online or by mail at Visa Application Centres or Canadian Embassy in your country or the nearest country one
