Are you an entrepreneur? Do you dream of coming to Canada and starting a business? Then Canada's Startup Visa program for entrepreneurs is the way to go.
The Start-up Visa Program is ideal for entrepreneurs who have an existing business and are ready to expand or set-up in Canada and are looking for investors. In order to be eligible to apply to the Start-up Visa Program, applicants must have already created their business and secured commitment from a designated Canadian investor.
There are three types of private-sector investors:
Venture capital fund
You first come to Canada on a work permit (supported by your investor) and after your business is successfully active, you qualify for permanent residency.
Letter of support by a designated private sector investor
Language requirement of CLB 5 (IELTS General Speaking: 5, Listening: 5, Reading: 4 and Writing: 5)
Sufficient funds to settle and support you for at least your first 6 months in Canada
Hold at least 10% voting rights of your business
Commit to the active and ongoing management of your business in Canada
How long is the process?
The first step in the Start Up Visa program is for you to develop a viable business that meets the requirements of an investor. If you already have a viable business plan in mind, it will take about 4-6 months to secure a commitment certificate/letter of support from a designated entity. Once you have secured a letter of support, we can move on to submit the application for permanent residency and wait for your visa to be issued. This will approximately take 18 months.
